The Bengali cat is a feline with a wild appearance and domestic character, ideal for living in an apartment or house with a garden. But there is a special kind of Bengali cat, the Silver Bengali Cat.
If you are looking for a cat with personality and wild beauty, you have found it. As soon as you see one, you recognize that they have something magnetic with respect to other breeds of cats.
Its mottled fur, its leopard spots (called rosettes) and its brown, reddish or silver colors catch the eye that admires it, because there has always been something irresistible about wild spirits. The Bengal is a medium to large sized cat, very powerful thanks to its highly developed musculature.
Origin
Originally this breed was born as a hybrid of the Asian leopard cat (prionailurus bengalensis), a wild cat, with domestic cats, especially the spotted Egyptian Mau.
Silver bengal cat character
The Bengali cat has a curious, fearless, active and playful character. They are known for their above-average intelligence, and for their ease in learning tricks and words. They are very talkative cats, and they make many different sounds.
Many of them even play fetch with the ball or their favorite object, like a dog would. This breed is a good candidate for clicker training. They love heights, jumping and being able to observe all the scenes from above.
Bengal cat classes
Spotted
Currently, the spotted have rosettes spread over a base of light cream mantle. These rosettes are made up of an outer ring, which can be open or closed, in a more contrasting tone (chocolate brown or black, for example) and an inner ring in a different tone (for example, orange gold).
Marble
It is a marbled design simulating swirls in the mantle. They also come in a variety of different colours, with brown marble, snow marble and silver marble being the main variants.
Sparble
The sparble type design is a mixture of spotted and marble, they are elongated swirls and rosettes with great spacing between them. You’ll know it’s a sparble when you don’t know if it’s a marble or a spotted. Color variations are the same as above.
Clouded
It is a design that starts from the spotted, but whose rosettes are very large with little space between them, the name is inherited from the Clouded leopard type.
Have the spots on the Silver Bengal Cat always been the same?
A Bengali is born with the rosettes or spots that he will have throughout his life. If we see the Bengal cat that swept the feline shows 20 years ago, it only had spots (brown spots) on the mantle, today, the Bengal cat has rosettes, which are very varied and visually impacting.
Another factor that varies is the tone of the base of the coat, which varies from very light tones to warmer tones known as “buttercoat”.
Curiosities
- Its fur is reminiscent of the leopard and is characterized by large dark spots called rosettes.
- Males can take two years to reach their final size and are markedly larger than females.
- Like wild fishing cats that they were, they like water and splashing around in dishes, or even drinking bowls if they get the chance.
- According to their color genetics, we find these types of Bengalis: Bengal brown, Bengal snow, Bengal Silver, Bengal blue, Bengal charcoal, Bengal smoke, Bengal black Melanistc and Bengal cashmere.
