This kitten, named Miss DePesto after her persistent and affectionate nature, was bred to a Persian, birthing the foundation of the Selkirk Rex breed. The breed was named after the Selkirk Mountains in Wyoming, making it the only cat breed named after a mountain range. It was recognized by major cat fancier associations in the following years and has since gained popularity worldwide.

Physical Characteristics
