History and Origin

The York Chocolate cat was first developed in 1983 by Janet Chiefari, a breeder from New York, who noticed that her farm cat, Blacky, produced a litter with kittens featuring a strikingly unique chocolate-colored coat. This led to the intentional breeding of cats to develop and solidify the distinct characteristics of the York Chocolate breed.

Physical Characteristics

York Chocolate cats have semi-long, silky coats that are waterproof and easy to maintain. Their eyes can range from green to gold and contrast beautifully with their dark, rich fur. They have strong, muscular bodies with long tails and tufted ears that enhance their elegant look.
